Thanks to a magnificent restoration, the Pelgrims house has been returned to its former glory!

This eclectic mansion, attributed to architect Adolphe Pirenne, hides behind a Flemish neo-Renaissance-inspired façade an interior that has been partially redesigned in Art Deco style. Initially inhabited by the Colson family, it was sold in 1927 to industrialist Eugène Pelgrims before becoming municipal property in 1963. An art lover and pharmacist with a solid cultural background, he gave his approval to architect Fernand Petit for a complete refurbishment of the building in 1927. As a result, the interior reflects both a Flemish Renaissance-inspired historicism in the living room and dining room, for example, and the influence of Art Deco in the bathroom and winter garden. The latter has retained an elegant openwork concrete structure decorated with blue stained glass windows featuring star motifs. Also in Art Deco style, the bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper floor have retained their beige and black marble cladding, built-in wardrobes and mirrors, and a beautiful set of stained glass windows. You will also have the opportunity to discover the magnificent English garden, transformed into a communal park, with its irregular layout of trees and lawns, as well as ponds, lakes and streams. The ground floor and first floor of the Pelgrims House are dedicated to the arts and creativity in all its forms: visual, musical and literary. The premises, which have become a veritable ‘House of Artists’, now host a variety of exhibitions (painting, photography, sculpture), as well as small concerts and conferences.
